BBH Asia Pacific curates creative session for ROJAK

ASIA-PACIFIC – SINGAPORE – FEBRUARY 28, 2011 – The grounds surrounding BBH Asia Pacific were abuzz last Friday evening as over 300 of Singapore’s creative community gathered for a generous exchange of ideas, inspiration and experimentation.

ROJAK, (a local dish of mixed vege with sweet black sauce dressing, spicy prawn paste and chopped peanuts) is used as a colloquial expression for the eclectic mix that is the multi-ethnic character of Malaysian and Singaporean society.

The ROJAK sessions, now in its 17th run, were founded by the architecture firm Farm and have built up a following of some of Singapore’s most interesting and burgeoning talent. It is best described as a crossroad where creatives from different disciplines come together to present and share their works and processes. Each session, featuring 10 presenters, is carefully curated.

BBH Asia Pacific, the first ad agency to curate and co-host ROJAK, brought together the agency’s partners from the fields of media, design and music to share their latest work. The spread of talent included revolutionary audio visual collective Syndicate, award winning architect and designer, Colin Seah and VOX, Singapore’s first pop rock string quartet. ROJAK audiences were also treated to a visual feast of contemporary jewelry design, photography, furniture design and Chinese art.

To offer a point difference to the speaker line up, BBH shared a glimpse of the workings within an advertising agency with a presentation by creative team Douglas Hamilton and Adrian Chan. The duo presented their take on how knowledge and understanding of local talent has led to collaboration that is central to the success of their craft.

Said Shawn Loo, Creative Director at BBH AP: "We have been fans of ROJAK since its inception. Co-hosting and curating ROJAK is a show of our support for this creative platform, and a great opportunity for us to engage with other creative minds within our local community".
