GLOBAL – NEW YORK, JULY 2011 – Andrew Robertson, President and CEO, BBDO Worldwide, announced two significant changes in regional management.
Chris Thomas (pictured), Chairman and CEO of BBDO Asia, will be expanding his responsibilities to include the Middle East and Africa. This is in addition to his global role as Chairman of Proximity Worldwide.
Troy Ruhanen, currently Deputy Chairman of BBDO North America, has been named to the new position of Chairman & CEO, the Americas.
Commenting on Thomas’ expanded role, Robertson remarked, "This aligns Chris’ regional responsibilities with many of our global clients. More important, over the last five years, Chris has done an outstanding job leading the transformation of our offer, reputation, and business in Asia. This move will allow us to leverage his experience and proven ability to build our business in other high population/high growth markets."
Thomas has served as Chairman and CEO of BBDO Asia since 2005. Under his leadership, BBDO/Proximity was named Creative Agency of the Year in 2008 by Campaign Asia-Pacific, among other accomplishments. In May 2011, he was named Chairman, Proximity Worldwide, taking over from Robertson.
