Clio Health 2018 winners announced, eight campaigns win Grand Clios, Area 23 is Agency of the Year, BBDO Worldwide is Network of the Year, Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation is Advertiser of the Year

The Clio Health Awards has announced the 2018 Grand Clio and “Of the Year” winners. Area 23, an FCB Health Network Company was named as Agency of the Year, while BBDO Worldwide is back-to-back Network of the Year awardee. Furthermore, the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation was revealed as the Advertiser of the Year. 

Energy BBDO’s “Prescribed to Death” campaign for the National Safety Council won two Grand Clios, one in Events/Experiential and another in Out of Home. Another BBDO agency, AMVBBDO gained two Grand Clios for “Bloodnormal” for client Essity Libresse/Bodyform. “Bloodnormal” grabbed top prize in the Integrated Campaign and Public Relations categories. 

“Prescribed to Death” called to attention “everyday killers” which are painkillers containing opioids. In the US, 22,000 people died from overdosing on these pills without knowing that they in fact contained opioids. Energy BBDO and the National Safety Council put up a memorial of 22,000 pills etched with the faces of those who died, each unique, to drive awareness to the opioid crisis and painkiller abuse. 


Meanwhile, “Bloodnormal” was hailed as a brave campaign from AMVBBDO and sanitary care brands Essity Libresse and Bodyform. The campaign was the first to show actual period blood and to openly talk about the taboos around menstruation. 

Overall, Clio Health awarded eight Grand Clios this year: 

Digital/Mobile: “Project Revoice” by BWM Dentsu for The ALS Association
Direct: “Imaginary Friend Society” by RPA for Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation
Events/Experiential and Out of Home: “Prescribed to Death” by Energy BBDO for National Safety Council
Film: “Corazon – Give Your Heart” by John X Hannes New York for Montefiore Health System
Integrated Campaign and Public Relations: “Bloodnormal” by AMVBBDO for Essity Libresse/Bodyform
Out of Home: “The World’s Smallest Booth” by Area 23, an FCB Health Network Company for Lartruvo
