D&AD 2019: 80 Pencils Were Awarded Across 17 Countries in Asia, Japan Contributes the Most with 27 Awards

LONDON–The 57th Professional D&AD Awards season has come to a close and the winners have been announced. 720 Pencils were awarded among the 58 countries where the most vibrant and creative works got the recognition they deserve. 

As one of the most sought-after honors in the advertising industry since 1962, it has established its place as a platform and institution that champions the electrifying energy of designers, artists and creative thinkers alike. The community that they’ve fortified through its years in the business have, year on year, consistently pushed after one goal: to stimulate, enable and celebrate creative excellence in design and advertising. 

This year, with the level of excellence displayed among all 34 categories, D&AD has awarded 458 Wood Pencils, 195 Graphite Pencils, 55 Yellow Pencils and 6 Black Pencils.

All in all, as a continent, Asia received 80 Pencils this year, with 27 from creatives organizations in Japan. 

Dentsu Inc.‘s “Get Back Tohoku” campaign for East Japan Railway Company won big with 3 Wood Pencils and 1 Finalist position across categories.  

The award-winning “Party Bus” film for Shiseido by Tower Film won 3 Wood Pencils and 1 Graphite Pencil.
