McCann Shanghai names Lee CCO

ASIA-PACIFIC – SHANGHAI, JULY 27, 2012: McCann Worldgroup China appointed Martin Lee  as chief creative officer for McCann Worldgroup Shanghai. Martin will be responsible for strengthening and driving creative excellence across the Shanghai Group’s client list.
 
Said Jesse Lin, CEO, McCann Worldgroup Greater China: “Martin’s proven track record for elevating the creative product and building depth of expertise will strengthen our positioning as we strive for creative excellence across all aspects of our operation.”
 
Prior to joining McCann Worldgroup China, Martin was chief creative officer of McCann Worldgroup in Thailand, a position he held for four years. During his tenure, Martin was responsible for boosting the agency’s international and local creative reputation, winning Cannes Lions, and awards at Spikes Clios, D&AD, The Work and LIAA. In 2011, McCann won the Best Film at the local Adman Awards and the Best Outdoor at the Bangkok Art Director’s Club (BAD Awards).
 
Martin will be based in Shanghai and resume responsibilities mid-September.
 
“Martin’s ability to grow, mentor and nurture his peers has led to impressive bench-strength within the Thai agency, leading to the appointment of Khun Santi Suwanvalaikorn and Khun Supachai Toemtechatpong who’ll assume Co-ECD roles at McCann Worldgroup Thailand,” said Monica White, CEO, McCann Worldgroup Thailand. “Martin will be greatly missed and we thank him for his on-going commitment to the agency.”

In April, McCann Worldgroup announced the appointment of Jesse Lin to the role of chief executive officer, McCann Worldgroup Greater China. Joining him is Ellen Hou, China’s top performing planning and culture director from TBWA; David Shen, chief executive officer, McCann Health Greater China and Cia Hatzi, regional business director.
 
McCann Worldgroup China handles many of the world’s most influential brands such as Coca-Cola, General Motors, L’Oreal, and Nestle. McCann Worldgroup China operates across three cities with nine offices, which include McCann Erickson, MRM, Momentum, and McCann Health. Advertising expenditure in China is forecasted to grow double digits in 2012 at 11.5 per cent according to market research firm Warc’s InternationalAd Forecast.
 
And according to IPG’s MAGNAGLOBAL, China will become the second largest advertising market this year, outpacing Japan.
