Global marketing leader Dean Aragon succeeds Marc Pritchard as Chair of the ANA Board

NEW YORK, USA – The Association of National Advertisers (ANA) has ushered in a new era of marketing leadership with the appointment of Shell Brands International Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chairman Dean Aragon as the organization’s new Board Chair.

The announcement was made during the ANA’s annual Masters of Marketing conference held in Orlando from October 21–24 as Procter & Gamble Chief Brand Officer Marc Pritchard concluded his term as Board Chair after nine years.

Nonetheless, Marc will continue to serve on the ANA Board of Directors, including on its Executive Committee. Marc’s tenure as Chair marked a period of significant growth and transformation for the ANA and the industry at large, strengthening the organization’s leadership on important industry topics including marketing effectiveness, industry measurement, and opening new pathways to growth through inclusive marketing.

“Marc’s contributions to the ANA and the marketing industry as a whole have been extraordinary,” said ANA CEO Bob Liodice said in a statement

He added, “Over the past nine years, his leadership has been instrumental in shaping the ANA’s growth, influence, and impact. We are thrilled he will continue to advance our mission through his ongoing role on the Board.”

Succeeding Marc as Board is Dean who is known as one of the most experienced global marketing leaders, with more than three decades of building successful B2B and B2C brands. Dean most recently served as Vice Chair of the ANA board as well as a member of its Executive Committee.

Moreover, Dean has worked on developing, activating and commercializing market-leading, global brands during his career that has spanned over 33 years.

As Global Vice-President-Brand, for the entire Shell group, he lead the development of overall brand strategy, brand policies and brand standards including thought-leadership in corporate brand advertising, digital-social media and creative solutions.

Likewise, Dean ‘s approach to marketing centers on maximizing a brand’s impact by emphasizing its “humanity.” He operates on the principle that all business—whether B2B (business-to-business), B2C (business-to-consumer), or B2B2C (business-to-business-to-consumer)—is ultimately “B2Humans.”

Prior to Shell, Dean spent 15 years in senior Brand Development roles at Unilever, across a range of categories and markets such as Regional Category VP – Deodorants Asia & Africa (Manila); Regional Brand VP NEAsia & Greater China – Dove Skincare (Bangkok, Tokyo and Shanghai); Global Brand VP – Sunsilk (London); Sr. Global Vice President – Salon Haircare Category [(London).

Ultimately, he is involved in various industry forums including one of the Board of Directors at ANA, Adweek Sustainability Council, Facebook Client Council EMEA, and Steering Group for Black Representation In Marketing or BRIM.

Meanwhile, General Motors Global Chief Media Officer Shenan Reed, a leader in business transformation succeeded Dean in the board Vice Chair role.
