Ogilvy & Mather yields DHL account, DHL calls for global creative pitch

Ogilvy & Mather seems to have given up on the DHL global creative account leaving the latter to seek new agency pitches, as reported by Media.

Deutsche Post DHL, the world giant in mail and logistics services, is said to have “decided to put out to tender its corporate DHL advertising budget. Several advertising agencies will participate in this pitch," Anita Gupta, senior vice-president and head of Corporate Communications for Asia-Pacific & EMEA, the same report has quoted.
The Deutsche Post DHL pitch will be conducted out of Bonn, Germany.

Gupta declined from naming agencies summoned to pitch.

DHL competitor UPS is known to have announced a potential US$200M account for its global advertising, media buying, relationship marketing and digital requirements in the second quarter of 2009.   Ogilvy & Mather, an advertising, marketing and public relations WPP-owned agency, is believed to be participating in the global UPS pitch, leading to speculation that this is the reason behind ceding the DHL account.

O&M won the DHL account in 2007 after winning against M&C Saatchi, which then handed all DHL global business, previously split between a number of agencies around the world, including some parts of the Ogilvy network.
Deutsche Post DHL, with over 500,000 employees in more than 220 countries, owning four airline subsidiaries operating for DHL Express, posted revenues exceeded US$77 billion in 2008.
