Media Contacts Philippines continues ICON Awards winning streak

PHILIPPINES, MARCH 2011 – For the second year in a row, Media Contacts Philippines has won in the 2011 ICON Awards, a global competition for agencies in the Havas Digital global network. Ten ICONs were awarded this year, recognizing the best work from a network spanning 40 countries and 52 cities. 
 
Among the stellar submissions from around the world, Media Contacts Philippines showed its dominance by winning Best Creative Campaign for Dove Go Fresh’s “Dove Showeroke” and Best Strategy for Sunsilk’s “Sunsilk beats the Competition at its own Game”. Media Contacts Philippines was the only office in the Asia Pacific region to bring home awards. The Philippine office is tied with Media Contacts Boston for the most numbers of awards this year. 
 
“On our first year, we came out of nowhere to win awards,” says Media Contacts Philippines CEO Ed Mapa Jr. “As we mature we want to be consistent with the level of our work and continue to push groundbreaking ideas.”
 
Media Contacts Philippines also performed well in last year’s ICON awards, despite it being in their first year of operation. It won Best Use of Social Media for Closeup’s “Kilig Factory” and Best Creative Campaign for the Department of Tourism’s “Awesome Philippines”. These got the attention of the Havas Digital Global Network, as they are the first office to win in the freshman year and even ranked with US, UK, and Spain with two wins each. 
 
Vishnu Mohan, the CEO Asia Pacific at Havas Media, recognizes the unwavering drive of the Philippine office. “I believe that when young agencies achieve so much the question is whether they can sustain it.
