AI and ambition: How EY GDS Philippines is empowering Gen Z to shape the future

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – EY Global Delivery Services (GDS) Philippines is harnessing the power of AI to equip Filipino Gen Z professionals with the tools to innovate, adapt, and lead in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Since the public release of generative AI tools in 2022, the global conversation around the technology has shifted from intrigue to action. While automation has sparked concerns around job security in some sectors, a growing number of young Filipinos are approaching AI not with apprehension, but with optimism – viewing it as a catalyst for career expansion and creative reinvention.

For Gen Z professionals navigating this new frontier, EY GDS Philippines stands as both mentor and launchpad. The organization is part of the global EY network, which delivers integrated business solutions to clients and member firms around the world. Part of their initiative involves investing deeply in training and upskilling initiatives to ensure that young Filipino talents are not just participants in the future of work, but its architects.

One such initiative is the EY GDS Cybersecurity Bootcamp, an intensive program designed to introduce young professionals to the increasingly vital world of cybersecurity. Among its beneficiaries is Ninna Robyn Manzano, a graduate in Information Systems who now serves as a Threat Detection and Response Analyst at EY GDS Philippines.

“The hands-on mentorship and training helped hone my confidence in technical and soft skills. The more confident I become in these aspects, the more I feel assured that even though the future is constantly changing, I can always adapt and work under pressure regardless of whatever obstacles I may encounter in my profession,” said Manzano.

This concept of training and knowledge-sharing is EY GDS’ idea of shaping the future for the next generation of Filipino workforce, said Maez De Guzman, EY GDS Philippines Cybersecurity Leader

“AI-driven tools, quantum-safe networking and advanced threat detection technologies are revolutionizing the future of cybersecurity, ensuring robust protection against evolving cyber threats,” she said.

All these steps — training and upskilling young Filipino workers — is essential as it entails supporting the organization’s teams, especially EY GDS Gen Z professionals to pioneer bold, transformative solutions that leave a lasting impact in the community and the industry.
