UPMG reigns in the 1st leg of the AdCon22 Golf Tournament

PHILIPPINES – JUNE 1, 2011 – The United Print Media Group (UPMG) was named overall team champion at the 1st Leg of the Golf Tournament of the 22nd Philippine Advertising Congress last month at the Eastridge Golf Club in Binangonan, Rizal. The tournament is the first major sports event of Ad Congress 22, which is set to be the most active congress in its history. 
 
The win could not be sweeter for UPMG, which is one of the hosts of this year’s Ad Congress, alongside the media sector associations of the AdBoard. The pairing of the Advertising Suppliers Association of the Philippines (ASAP) and the Association of Accredited Advertising Agencies of the Philippines (4As), emerged runner-up in the first leg.
 
Ernie Hernandez was named Low Gross Champion, while UPMG’s Susan San Pascual was deemed Low Net Champion. Special awards were given to OAAP’s Jun Suan for Longest Drive, KBP’s Delfin Perez for Most Accurate Drive and OAAP’s Dong Callao for Nearest to the Pin. 
 
UPMG’s Dino Datu topped the  Men’s division Class A, followed by OAAP’s Jun Suan and UPMG’s Mike Besa as 1st and 2nd Runners Up, respectively. In Class B, PANA’s Michael Ong led runners up Ricky Alegre of UPMG and JR Hernandez of 4As. Edwin Hernandez of PANA topped Class C, with OAAP’s Dondie Abueva as 1st Runner Up and teammate Dong Callao as 2nd Runner Up. Class D was led by UPMG’s Robert Garcia, followed by runner up Conrad Virina and Mackoy Villaroman, both of ASAP.
 
In the Ladies Division, 4As’ Matec Villanueva was named champion, with ASAP’s Lorna Tabuena as runner up. OAAP’s Ramon Chuajoy headed up the Seniors division winners, with IBA’s Louie Kerulf and UPMG’s Alex Magno as 1st and 2nd Runners Up. The Guest Division had PANA’s Carlo Carpio as Champion and UPMG’s Rene Datu as runner up.
 
The 2nd leg of the tournament will be on July 11 at the Riviera Golf Club in Silang, Cavite.
