Help bring daylight into Filipino homes at adobo Run After Dark

THE PHILIPPINES, OCTOBER 27, 2011: More than the rush of a night run, the fun of playing dress-up in wacky costumes, and the refreshing sound of live music coupled with overflowing drinks, this long weekend can be meaningful for years to come. The adobo Run After Dark on October 29 at Aseana City (near MOA) supports Isang Litrong Liwanag, MyShelter Foundation’s project that aims to create and install solar bulbs to thousands of Filipino communities still in the dark.

The adobo Run After Dark is a kick-off event for the world record attempt on November 30, which hopes to light up 10,000 homes from 30 communities in 17 cities in one day. Runners are encouraged to donate 1.5-liter soda bottles, which will be accepted at the venue. The bottles will be filled with a simple solution of water and bleach, then sealed into a hole in the roof, resulting in a bright and cost-effective lamp. It’s a liter (and a half) of light that will go a long way. View the run commercial and official theme song below.
