Google and Burberry launch Burberry Kisses campaign to help send kisses worldwide

GLOBAL, JUNE 14, 2013 – Google and Burberry are working to help people nowadays better connect with their loved ones by allowing them to send their own kisses to anyone via computers, smartphones, tablets – devices with attached webcams.

Taking part in this campaign is a simple affair. One would just need to visit kisses.burberry.com and ‘kiss’ the air in front of their webcams, or actually kiss the screen of devices that contain webcams. The site’s “kiss-detection technology” will register the outline of kissers’ lips, which can be dressed up with a Burberry lipstick color. What’s more, all kisses being sent around the world can be viewed via a real-time interactive map.

Once that step is done, a quick note can be written and sent to a desired recipient via email or Google+, and then the sender can just sit back and watch the envelope ‘fly’ to the receiver.

Google says that this is a partnership – one of several under their Art, Copy and Code project – that aims to help the world reimagine how beauty products can be marketed to millennial consumers using beautiful and emotional experiences across digital devices, and within product categories – such as beauty products in this instance – which are particularly relevant to millennials.

Art, Copy and Code is a follow-up to Project Re:Brief, Google’s campaign organized in 2012 to reimagine some of the most iconic campaigns in the ad industry, such as Coca-Cola’s “Hilltop” and Volvo’s “Drive It Like You Hate It”. These campaigns are indicative of the company’s drive to widen its range of offerings beyond search in order to continue to offer users the best possible experiences.
