Art to Go with Dell Studio

Mag:Net at Bonifacio High Street was a hive of activity last Monday as Dell launched its latest offering, the Studio that is making a beeline for art directors and video enthusiasts.  According to Joey Ong, creative director of Bates141, “the working concept (behind Dell Studio) is that anything can be easily designed nowadays.”  With everybody into graffiti doing walls, Ong thought, “wouldn’t it be crazier to paint on vehicles?”

And so they did.  With designated chief artist-DJ Caliph8 and company, the Dell Studio live art campaign started with a VW Combi in Eastwood last October 17.  The activity garnered so much attention, it literally stole the crowd from a rock radio station’s relaunch event.  Now, the owner of the reinvented combi wants to retain its spray-paint new do for the Volkswagen car show in November, while Raimund Marasigan of Sandwich and Eraserheads made a bid to own it.

Other than spray-painting vehicles Dell Studio is really in the market to spark interest in art.  In cooperation with Crocs’s Mega Mall outlet, the Dell campaign conducted a display window live art show that enamored a healthy number of wide-eyed young children who suddenly wanted those paintbrushes in their hands.  Talk about creating artful dreams.

And on this Dell Studio Monday night, it was a virginal Beetle that would well.. turn a new leaf.  And how!  With Caliph8’s music mix of psychedelic, funk and soul—trademarks of cool nights, of color and art, fun and friends–and cars, of course.
