S.I.Partners opens in Asia HQ in HK, appoints Jimmy Lam as chairman

ASIA-PACIFIC – MAY 2011 – S.I.Partners, the UK’s leading business advisor to the marketing services sector, is opening its first regional headquarters in Asia Pacific, based in Hong Kong. The office, which will serve Greater China and the growing Asian market, is being set up in response to enormous demand for the company’s services in the region and will  act as a hub to support the company’s clients in both Asia and Europe.

Founded in London in 2002, S.I.Partners provides a unique mix of consultancy and corporate finance services to businesses in the marketing services, media and technology sectors.

Currently, Asia represents 25% of S.I.Partners’ business and is expected to account for 50% of the company’s global revenues by 2013. With China expected to overtake Japan to become the second largest advertising market by 2016, S.I.Partners seeks to advise agencies on a range of issues such as talent management, business development, financial consultancy and support for mergers & acquisitions.

“Our goal is simple – three firsts,” said Charles Fallon, co-founder of S.I.Partners. “We believe we are the first advisor to offer this breadth of service in the Asian market; we want to be the undisputed number one advisor to the Asian marketing sector and; we aim to spearhead the first acquisition of a European agency by a Chinese business. We originally came to Asia to help our European clients understand the East, but in turn this led to us winning local clients, and therefore the need for a regional headquarters.”

The company has appointed Jimmy Lam to the position of chairman, S.I.Partners Asia. A marketing industry veteran, with years of high-level creative insight and expertise, he joins S.I.Partners from the Asia Pacific Advertising Festiva (ADFEST), where he is currently Festival Presidentl.  His previous roles include Regional Executive Creative Director at Dentsu Asia and CEO of Lintas Hong Kong.

A leading figure in the Asia Pacific advertising community, Lam was the first Hong Kong creative invited to be a judge at Cannes Advertising Festival in 1994 and was responsible for initiating the new global creative audit standard at D’Arcy Worldwide (now Publicis Groupe).

Fallon commented:  “Having Jimmy Lam on board is a huge coup – nobody is better connected in the Asian marketing sector.  His leadership will provide us with a catalyst for growth in this dynamic region.”

Lam added:  “The opportunity to head S.I.Partners in Asia is a fantastic challenge.  Having worked in Asia’s creative industries all my life, I’m aware of the challenges that businesses face here, and also the opportunities for European organisations looking to get a foothold in the market.  The timing is perfect for S.I.Partners to open in Asia and I am thrilled to be part of this exciting chapter.”

Fallon and Lam will be hosting a Greater China seminar about growth and business opportunities in London in October 2011 and in Hong Kong in November 2011.
