PHILIPPINES, JUNE 7, 2011 – Ace programmer Manny Luzon goes bigtime with the launch of BIG Radio, 91.5 on the FM band in Metro Manila. Luzon turned 91.5 Energy FM into one of Manila’s highest rated FM stations. He came out of retirement in 2010 to join Progressive Broadcasting Corporation as EVP and COO, reformatting rock radio station NU 107 into the mass market Win 107.5, where double meanings are a no-no.
In partnership with Progressive’s Atom Henares, Luzon returns to 91.5 to launch BIG Radio, bringing Win Radio DJs with him. The revamped BIG Radio, which is similar in programming to the pop-and-OPM mix of Win 107.5, commenced airing on June 1.
Energy FM is said to be moving to a higher frequency this July.
Let’s hope BIG Radio takes the clean route and champions OPM without the dirty talk that has become a favorite formula on FM.
