KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA – GO Communications has announced the appointment of Andreas Vogiatzakis as its Non-Executive Chairman, marking a significant milestone for the 20-year standing, independent agency, while sending a strong signal across Malaysia’s marketing, media and communications landscape.
Widely regarded as one of the most respected figures in the industry both locally and internationally, Vogiatzakis brings with him decades of leadership experience across global media agencies, multinational markets, and most notably, his tenure as Group CEO of Star Media Group, Malaysia’s largest integrated media organisation.
His appointment positions GO Communications at a rare strategic intersection, combining entrepreneurial agency culture with board-level media leadership of the highest calibre.

Peter de Kretser, Co-Founder & CEO of GO Communications, said the appointment was both strategic and deeply personal.
“I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Andreas for a long time and have always admired the clarity of his thinking and his influence as a natural leader. His experience spans continents and cultures from New York to Tokyo to Kuala Lumpur – sometimes even Havana – and that global perspective is invaluable,” he said.
“The last few years have seen GO travel on a meteoric upward trajectory, but we’re not here to simply stand still. Andreas’ influence, guidance and leadership will undoubtedly embellish our journey and elevate what’s possible for GO and the GO Group internationally as we move with our best foot forward,” he added.

Indeed, Vogiatzakis is no stranger to shaping organisations at scale. His career spans leadership roles across the United States, Greece, Japan, Taiwan and Malaysia, where he has led some of the world’s largest media networks including Publicis, Group M, Omnicom and Havas Media Group before helming Star Media Group. Throughout his career, he has been recognised not only for driving commercial growth, but for building cultures, nurturing talent, and steering organisations through pivotal periods of transformation.
Now, as Non-Executive Chairman of GO Communications, Vogiatzakis will focus on a critical and timely mandate to enhance the human dimension of leadership within GO’s ranks, in an industry increasingly shaped by AI, automation and digitisation. While embracing technology as a powerful enabler, his role centres on ensuring that people – and inherent people-centric facets of creativity, judgment, leadership and culture – remain firmly in the driver’s seat.
His remit includes providing strategic counsel to GO’s board and leadership, advising on long-term organisational direction, and playing a key role in human capital development, all while drawing from his background as a certified executive coach and founder of leadership advisory platform, AMV+.
Putting people front and center
Truly, in an era where efficiency is becoming an increasingly algorithmic function, GO Communications’ decision to appoint Vogiatzakis puts forward a deliberate philosophy that human potential remains the ultimate differentiator. His appointment reflects the agency’s belief that technology should amplify human brilliance without replacing it, and that leadership, emotional intelligence and culture will define the next chapter of agency success.
For Vogiatzakis, the decision to join GO Communications was driven as much by passion, but more by purpose.
“For me, this is a proud career-defining moment, and taking up the role was a very natural decision for me. I’ve known Peter long before GO Communications even existed, and I understand the company’s DNA very well, including its ambition, its tenacity and grit, and its commitment to telling stories that continue to shape and influence the industry landscape,” he said.
“When the world is increasingly being defined by AI and technology, we must never forget that it is human thinking, empathy and judgment that make a unique difference. GO already has incredible talent, so my role is to embellish that, by sharpening minds and elevating the company’s leadership to ensure the agency continues to grow with purpose and integrity. This is essentially a dream role for me, as I’ll be returning to my ‘alma mater’,” he added.
And for GO Communications, the appointment of Andreas Vogiatzakis as Non-Executive Chairman is a clear statement of intent. It reflects the agency’s confidence in its trajectory, its commitment to long-term excellence, and its belief that the future of communications belongs to organisations that invest as deeply in people, even as the agency continues to expand its influence and redefine storytelling in Malaysia and across the GO Group internationally.
