adobo partners with the Philippine Red Cross for GenerosiTee

MANILA – December 18, 2013 – adobo magazine has partnered with the Philippine Red Cross for GenerosiTee, the holiday giveaway-turned-relief campaign centered on a very special t-shirt.

The adobo GenerosiTee is a shirt that doubles as a relief pack with some strategic knotting. The shirt can then be filled with relief items recommended by the Department of Social Welfare and Development: as much as 6 kg of rice, 3 cans of sardine, 8  packs of instant noodles, 3 cans of corned beef, and 8 sachets of coffee.

GenerosiTee has already been supported by many industry people, including DM9JaymeSyfu’s chief creative officer Merlee Jayme, filmmaker Paul Soriano,  TVC director Sid Maderazo, Callalily vocalist Kean Cipriano, 6CycleMind vocalist Tutti Caringal, and TV personality Rovilson Fernandez.

"We saw the great benefit of this to the ones affected by Typhoon Yolanda, so right after that, we decided that, okay, this is very good. The idea is very smart, having shirts, being used to wrap relief packs," said Ryan Jay Jopia, Community Health and Nursing Services manager at the Philippine Red Cross.

As Jopia shared, GenerosiTee not only helps alleviate the hunger of many Yolanda survivors, but it also answers disposal problems that arise from the use of plastics to pack relief goods.

"This one is very good because it’s environment friendly, you don’t contribute to the increase of solid waste to be disposed afterwards, so this is very smart. The Red Cross itself is shifting from plastic to eco-bag, so we see this in conjuncture with what we are prioritizing, helping the environment," he said.
