2012 International ANDY Awards gets apocalyptic in call for entries

GLOBAL – OCTOBER 2011: The 2012 International ANDY Awards Call-for-Entry creative campaign gets the Hollywood treatment. The end of the world is coming, according to ANDY Chairman Bob Greenberg and his team at R/GA. Enter the ANDYs – before it’s too late!
 

 
For the third year, ANDY Awards marketing has gone entirely digital. The new campaign at 2012.andyawards.com centers on the end of the Mayan calendar in 2011, reminding creatives this will be their best chance to win “the last award of your life” – underscoring this given the fact that the ANDYs are the first show of the 2012 season. The campaign also presents the unique, fascinating idea by R/GA to place the ANDY winners in a time capsule underground data bunker at the conclusion of the Show, enabling the work to be saved “for all eternity.”
 

 
“The campaign concept originated from our wanting to light a fire under people and give them a real sense of urgency to enter the ANDYs,” says Bob Greenberg, R/GA Chairman and CCO. 
 
In addition to the time capsule, Facebook will not only be supporting the ANDYs on the Facebook platform but planning highly interactive elements to make the ANDYs a more social experience for the entrants and winners during Final Judging, this February in Kauai, Hawaii and at the Show & Party, in New York City in April. 
 
Joining Greenberg from Asia are Droga5 Sydney’s David Nobay, McCann Erickson India’s Prasoon Joshi, Party Tokyo’s Masashi Kawamura, Hien Nguyen of Clipper Indochine Vietnam and Calvin Soh.

The deadline for submission for the 2012 International ANDY Awards is January 9, 2012.
