ABS-CBN recaptured Mega Manila by a point last Tuesday, May 19, according to ratings figures released by global market research specialist Taylor Nelson Sofres (TNS). In a press release, the network claimed an audience share of 40% vs. 39% for arch-rival GMA.
Earlier this year, GMA released figures claiming Mega Manila leadership and citing both TNS and AGB Nielsen. TNS’ study defines ‘Mega Manila’ as Metro Manila, Rizal, Cavite, Laguna, Bulacan and parts of Pampanga.
Also according to ABS-CBN, primetime shares for Mega Manila show ABS-CBN with 45% vs. GMA’s 43%. The gap is even bigger for Metro Manila, with ABS-CBN claiming a 43% share to GMA’s 34%. The figures boost ABS-CBN’s national leadership, with 50% audience share vs. GMA’s 31%.
In terms of specific programs, ABS-CBN also has the top 7, and 13 out of the top 20. The release continues, “Each and every ABS-CBN program won over its counterpart program from sign on till sign off nationally.”
