It was a semifinal match valiantly fought to the dying minutes by adobo FC A, as they fell 2-0 to Loyola at the Lotto Titans Cup held last Saturday at Manila Polo Club.
Playing three men short, adobo FC A, our team of agency owners, copywriters, a cinematographer and various friends-who-couldn’t-say-no went up against the league’s strongest team, a tight squad of ex-varsity (that’s the UAAP, folks) players in their twenties (ouch, wince). Amid controversial referee calls, including a red card for Kola Akinyele, adobo FC A acquitted themselves as the league giant-killers. Paolo Bellosillo of adobo FC A won Best Goalkeeper of the Cup. Sadly missed due to injury were Glenver Gregorio and Ebong Joson.

All in all, it was a good fight for adobo’s weekend warriors, who ran on not much more than Gatorade until the post-tournament open bar at Il Ponticello. One-man captain/manager/cheerleader/news correspondent Ricky Santillan calls on fellow fans of the beautiful game to join them on the team or in the stands at the next cup in April.
