adobo magazine launches adobo Design Awards 2015

MANILA – adobo magazine has once again launched its yearly design competition, the adobo Design Awards, which celebrates the best in design and creativity.

For 2015, aDA is set to surpass last year’s record-breaking edition to highlight the state-of-the-art in print, publishing and advertising.

At a press launch held last January 27, at Chef Bruce Lim’s Rustique Kitchen, members of the 2015 aDA jury shared their expectations for this year’s competition.

“I’m looking forward to seeing creative work, strong and compelling images and ideas,” said Baby Imperial, creative partner at B+C Design.

At the same time PortfolioMNL founder Rina Malonzo said that apart from working with the other judges, she is also excited to see the work produced by people working with the best tools that agencies can provide.

“It’s another thing that I’m looking forward to at the awards, to see what candy people are producing with the best tools that agencies can give them,” she shared.

“adobo Design Awards is exciting because it’s a level up, and getting to see really what trends are happening, what great work is happening out there,” Malonzo said.

Acid House director Ivan Despi shared Malonzo’s excitement at seeing the work.

“When we judge competitions it’s nice because you get an overview of the landscape of the industry. It’s a nice way to see all the best work that’s happening right now, especially with the adobo Design Awards, I’m sure the cream of the crop will enter their best work,” Despi said.

American Institute of Graphic Arts Medal award-winner Lucille Tenazas is returning this year as jury president, overseeing a panel of industry notables and luminaries in judging the entries across 14 categories.

With the overall theme of ‘Design for the Future’, ADA 2015 is inviting all enthusiasts, practitioners, freelancers and students of design and advertising to submit their entries showcasing their most creatively effective solutions for Philippine social issues.

Deadline for submission of entries is on February 27, 2015. The entry fee is at P1,800/ USD 45 per entry for professionals, and P500/ USD 15 per entry for students.
