Artist’sTalk and Gallery Tour with Eduardo V. Sicangco

adobo main course, a quarterly production of adobo magazine, featured Eduardo V. Sicangco’s opulent designs, sets and costumes at the Ayala Museum last Monday, 24 November.  In an entertaining Q & A, ala Inside the Actor’s Studio, interviewer Angel Guerrero, adobo EIC, fielded the questions, and Sicangco livened the exercise with colorful, eye-opening remarks on art and artistry, on show and show business.  Artist’sTalk and Walk Through with Eduardo V. Sicangco featured an engaging introduction to his works on exhibit, with the artist himself acting as tour guide and lecturer.

Sicangco’s works, all of masterful craftsmanship – have been revealed with every curtain-rise on Philippine and American theatres for opera and ballet, musical theaters for Lincold Center, Radio City Hall and the Brooklyn Academy of Music, as well as off-Broadway shows.  Even out-of-the-box, his designs have crossed mediums, making their way to the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus, and even — and even to cinema — for the historic pairing of action superstars Jackie Chan and Jet Li in the film The Forbidden Kingdom.

This Filipino and his creations have made theater, dance and music rich with imagination of a rare originality, eloquently lifting theater arts design – indeed, scenography – to unparalleled heights of pure fantasy and magnificence.
