Arts & Culture: What to Look Out for at Art in the Park’s 13th Year

Art in the Park is back for its 13th year at Jaime Velasquez Park in Salcedo Village on March 17, 10am to 10pm.

A fundraising event, Art in the Park donates a portion of its sales to the Museum Foundation of the Philippines in support of their projects and programs for the National Museum of the Philippines and its network. Entrance to the fair is free of charge.

This year, 56 exhibitors representing galleries, art collectives, independent art spaces, and student groups will showcase a wide range of artworks that will surely appeal to a broad array of tastes and styles.

Prices of artworks are capped at P50,000 with many art lovers scoring coveted pieces for even far less. Last year, an Art in the Park visitor unknowingly bought an unsigned BenCab painting at the fair from CANVAS. Another lucky buyer also brought home an unsigned Manny Garibay work from the fair. Their stories eventually went viral on social media.

ARTIST FEATURE:

Zean Cabangis
The art of painter and photographer Zean Cabangis graces the fair’s postcards this year. A merging of his two passions, From the space in which we stand consists of a photo transfer of one of his photographs that he then painted over. Works by Cabangis will also be available at the MFPI booth.

Yeo Kaa
Palawan-born young artist Yeo Kaa will reprise her inflatable piece Alone But Not Lonely from her recent exhibition in Singapore. Yeo Kaa will also have tile work available at the MFPI booth.
