Gidget Lao, AXN Networks Philippines Business Unit Head shares that the show was two years in the making. “Cash Cab Philippines is the first locally produced show for AXN in this market, and we are very excited for its debut just in time for Christmas,” she says.

Hosted by multi-awarded Filipino television host, Ryan Agoncillo will assume the role of Manong Driver, navigating the busy streets of Manila, picking up unsuspecting passengers while quizzing them on general knowledge. Correct answer corresponds to cash prizes while incorrect answers gives them a strike. Contestants only have up to three strikes before they get booted out of the cab and onto the street, no matter where they are. They will have two “shout outs” for help if stumped with a question. One is the mobile shout out which allows them to phone a friend, or the street shout out in which they could ask a random stranger walking around the street.

When asked about his preparations as a host and driver, Agoncillo says having kids to entertain in the car helped a lot. “I’ve been a host for the past 17 years, both in English and Filipino, but what really prepared me for this is drift car racing and being with two kids stuck in traffic!”

The only gameshow on wheels will run for 13 episode series.
