Boysen marks 60th year with commemorative stamps

MANILA – November 15, 2013 – Celebrating six decades of prominence in the paint industry, Boysen, together with the Philippine Postal Corporation, has issued commemorative stamps with four different designs.

Issued on September 9, 2013, the stamps will be sold until September 8, 2014, or as stocks allow.

Designed by STAMPS Enterprises, the set features milestones in Boysen’s colorful history, including its Boysen KNOxOUT Project: EDSA, a creative collaboration with TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno. The urban renewal initiative won a Silver trophy at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity. Other recent wins for TBWA SMP and BOYSEN for Project EDSA include the Silver Pencil at One Show, a Gold and Bronze at the Asian Marketing Effectiveness Awards, and a Gold at the UA&P Tambuli Awards 2013.

The project seeks to improve the air quality along Epifanio De Los Santos Avenue by painting 8,000 square meters – the equivalent of planting 8,000 trees. KNOxOUT Air Cleaning Paint with CristalActiv technology is one of Boysen’s recent innovations, and has been exported across the globe in countries like the USA, Japan, Hong Kong, Iran and the Netherlands. It is the first Filipino paint company to be given by SPIK (i.e., also known as the Chemical Industries Association of the Philippines) the privilege to use the Responsible Care logo.

Willy Ong, President of Pacific Paint (Boysen) Philippines noted that Boysen’s KNOxOUT technology has been cited as one of the top six inventions from Asia by the National Geographic program Innovasians. Another milestone for the company was winning the Responsible Care Gold Plum from SPIK (Samahan sa Pilipinas ng Industriyang Kimika) in 2012.

Boysen was founded in 1953 as repacked of paint and lacquer thinners under the trade name Columbus. "We began our journey from humble beginnings. From being a repacked of paints and lacquer thinners to being the most trusted brand awarded by Reader’s Digest eight years over," said Willy Ong, President of Pacific Paint (Boysen) Philippines.

"The power and ability to shape the future is in our hands. I am excited to see where our journey will take us and I truly believe that the best of Pacific Paint is yet to come. Let us all look forward to 60 and more colourful years to come," Ong said.
