Social media challenges e-commerce start-ups face

Transcription:

“Hi, my name is Oliver and I am the CEO of Ava.ph. Ava is a curated market place of beautiful things where you can find premium hard to find design and fashion brands.

For Ava, social media has been a great enabler for our business. E-commerce by it’s very nature is very engaging. You need a lot of content to be able to engage and entertain and educate the consumer. So the way we use social networks is that: it’s a lot of remarkable content that we share with our users. These are all pieces of content that entertain people but educate and inform them in a certain way and given our target market of 20-something and 30-something women who are all on facebook, and on twitter, social media has been a great tool in helping us grow our business

Having said that, we see a lot of challenges for social media here in the Philippines. The biggest main point that we face is that we don’t see a lot of really, really good agencies that specialize in social media and who cater specifically for start-ups.

Unlike big brands, start-ups have very limited resources. And so the focus on ROI must to be super super intense. So we’re hoping that in the next few years we can see a lot of firms who can serve start-ups and not just offer creative work but also the full cycle of creative services, performance marketing and ad kinetics.

With that I think, there’s a lot more that the local community can offer. So we’re all looking forward to it and we’re pretty excited for the next two to three years for Ava. And if you have the time, check it out Ava.ph, it’s a pretty interesting site. We’ll guarantee that you’ll love all the products there.”
