Adland honors Everyman pitchman Dolphy

THE PHILIPPINES, JULY 27, 2012: Funny man Dolphy was posthumously honored at the 4As Agency of the Year awards with sons Eric and Epi Quizon and longtime partner Zsa Zsa Padilla on hand to accept the honor and watch adland’s homage to a performer who was as much a star on the advertising stage as he was on the big screen.

The 4As tribute to Dolphy featured the late comedy king – best known for his Everyman  and gender-bending roles, flawless comic timing and nimble dance moves – in commercials such as Ajax, Tender Juicy and Dolfenal.

As Padilla noted in accepting the award, Dolphy had won both best actor and best actress awards, proving his incredible range and talent that made him an ideal pitchman in commercials.

The 4As homage featured a short clip of the performer’s remarkable comic timing in the RVQ-produced  Father and Son movie from 1995, which has since gone viral with hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube.

Dolphy is at his comic best playing the brand endorser of a hard-to-swallow whiskey brand in an ad shoot that goes awry from the get go.

With each take, the star gets increasingly inebriated and outrageous as he stumbles with his lines, exasperating the director and sending the client out on a stretcher, a clip that had the 4as crowd roaring with laughter.
