The CLIO Awards turn 50 in 2009, and celebrate it with a move to Las Vegas and five outstanding awards: Moving Image, Emerging Media, Print & Radio, Design and Lifetime Achievement. These are on top of the show’s existing awards for advertising design and interactive.
At 50, the CLIO remains one of the industry’s most venerable awards, and continues to honor the best and most innovative leaders in an ever-changing, sometimes brutal environment. "What better way to honor the diversity of the creative community than to spotlight the mediums with distinct events during this year’s CLIO Festival," said Wayne Youkhana, director of the CLIO Awards, in a statement.
A Miami institution, the 2009 CLIO segues onto Las Vegas in May for the first time since its inception. Gold and gambling, guts and glory — what better way to celebrate 50 years? (And, dare we say, signal a new tougher industry outlook?)
The CLIO is open for entries for work that appeared between Jan. 1 ? Dec. 31, 2008. Entry deadline is Jan. 23, 2009. Online submissions at www.clioawards.com.
