TBWA’s Digital Arts Network and one2free ‘gamify’ your Facebook feed

ASIA-PACIFIC – CHINA, JANUARY 28, 2013 – TBWA’s Digital Arts Network Hong Kong and one2free has announced the launch of an innovative new approach to social content, enabling self-contained gaming within Facebook posts.

TBWA\DAN Hong Kong and one2free are the first, globally, to do this across desktop and mobile, allowing Facebook fans to play and share games directly from their Facebook timeline and newsfeed without the traditional use of Facebook apps.

one2free, a major mobile operator in Hong Kong, wanted to use social content in a unique way to promote the launch of Game Box. The new service provides on-demand, console quality gaming to their mobile subscribers whenever and wherever they want.

To celebrate and launch Game Box, TBWA\DAN Hong Kong and one2free decided to go back to the 1980s and pay tribute to some of the original games that led to today’s modern gaming. To do this, TBWA\DAN Hong is creating a series of bite-size games for Facebook, inspired by the classics such as Space Invaders, Snake and Frogger. More games will be added based on suggestions from one2free’s Facebook fans.

Each in-feed game will integrate some of Hong Kong’s most loved icons. The Star Ferry and Hong Kong’s famous skyline are featured in the first game, one2free Invaders, with more games to follow each month. The games are developed in both Flash and HTML5 to enable gaming across desktop and mobile devices connected to the internet.

“We’ve been experimenting with rich, interactive content within the Facebook feed for a while,” said Luke Eid, head of TBWA’s Digital Arts Network Hong Kong. “When one2free came to us to launch Game Box, it was the perfect opportunity to develop something fun and meaningful that people will actually love to play and share. It’s a real game-changer for how brands can create content for Facebook.”

Joehan Martinus, director of mass marketing for one2free, commented, “At one2free, we’re always looking for new ways to bring fun to Hong Kong. This series of in-feed, retro games is our way of continuing to do this by reinventing the concept of gaming on Facebook. This definitely adds a new dimension of interactivity and social sharing for our loyal Facebook fans.”
