Singapore emerges as most awarded country;BBDO among agencies at APPIES 2013

 ASIA-PACIFC – SINGAPORE, AUGUST 19, 2013 – The Asia Pacific Marketing Congress (APPIES) 2013 concluded last Friday recognizing the best marketing communication and advertising campaigns from across the region, awarding a total of 10 Gold medals, 5 Silver medals and 9 best presenters.

It was a sweeping victory for Singapore, taking home most number of medals – three Golds, one Silver and  two Best Presenter awards. It was followed by Thailand and India, who brought home five medals each, then Philippines, Japan and China who nabbed two medals each. Australia and Pakistan each bagged one Gold medal.

BBDO was the congress’ most awarded network with a large metal haul of four Golds, one Silver and one Best Presenter award. Its campaigns ‘Apology Press Conference’ for Mars (Japan), ‘It’s More Fun in the Philippines’ for the Department of Tourism (Philippines, ‘Moving SingTel’s image from being a traditional telco to an innovative multimedia company’ for SingTel (Singapore),‘Flavours of Life’ for Wrigley’s Extra (China) were awarded with gold medals. I&S BBDO/BBDO J West’s ‘The Truth Lies Behind’ for Shabondama Soap (Japan) gave the agency a silver medal. BBDO China’s group planning director Jason King was awarded as one of the best presenters.

BBH brought home 3 medals with BBH Asia Pacific’s ‘From big ticket expenses to daily essential’ for NTUC Income Insurance and BBH Asia Pacific’s ‘National Night’ for Perfetti Van Melle, winning gold medals; and BBH CommunciationsIndia.’s ‘Recommended by those who care about you’ for Mariko Limited, winning a silver medal. Yosuf Rangoonwala, strategy director at BBH Asia Pacific, India was also awarded one of the best presenters.

Creative agencies Ogilvy & Mather, Iris Worldwide and Host each bagged one Gold trophy for their works Smoking kid Thailand’ for Thai Health Promotion Foundation, ‘Be Positive’ for Health Promotion Board (Singapore), and ‘Kiwi Sceptics’ for Air New Zealand, respectively.

Lowe and Partners nabbed two Silvers for ‘Max Savings’ for Krungsri Bank and ‘Noodle Gang’s Adventures’ for Unilever Knorr Noodles (Pakistan). McCann Worldgroup won a Silver for ‘Adding romance to the Game of Thrones’ for Marico and one Best Pesenter award for its group planning director Dhiren Amin.
