Entertainment & Media: Watch Out for FOX PH’s First Pinoy Horror film ‘Maledicto’ on May 1

MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Filipinos are going to get quite the scare as Fox Networks Group Philippines together with Cignal Entertainment and Unitel, bring us their first ever film ‘Maledicto’, this coming May 1.

The film, directed by award-winning director Mark Meily, is about former psychologist-turned-priest Father Xavi (Tom Rodriguez), who gets into exorcism after his sister (Inah de Belen) dies in a tragic death. He is accompanied by Sister Barbie (Jasmin Curtis-Smith), a nun with the spiritual gift of seeing things that can’t be perceived by normal human senses. In the movie, they both work on the case of Agnes (Miles Ocampo), a teenager who starts manifesting demonic behavior. The story is based on a screenplay by Palanca-winning writer Jonathan Guillermo.

“I don’t think I’ve ever played a character quite like Xavi. Our personalities are just a contrast,” says actor Tom Rodriguez who plays Father Xavi in the film. “I’m just delighted that a great project with an amazing material with great ensemble… I can’t believe I’ll be working with this particular group.”

Other cast members include Eric Quizon, Martin Escudero, Franco Laurel, Nonie Buencamino, Liza Lorena and Menggie Cobarrubias.

“Maledicto is a really big FNG, being the first ever film we’ve produced locally, with an all-Filipino cast at that.
