Globe launches #GoSURFSpotify

MANILA – With the internet taking music piracy to an all-time high, Spotify, a music streaming service, takes up the mantle of curbing the piracy problem once and for all.

With a repertoire of over 30 million songs and more being added every day, Spotify aims to be the biggest musical library in the world. From its humble beginnings in Sweden back in 2008, Spotify has since become one of the largest streaming services in the Internet today.

Spotify offers two types of account subscriptions: the Free and Premium services. Spotify Free allows users unlimited music streaming for desktop, but with ads. For mobile, Spotify Free users cannot press skip on their player for more than six times, and can only play music on Shuffle mode. Spotify Premium gets rid of all these annoyances, and allows the user to download tracks to their mobile device (as well as high-quality streaming) for P130 a month, a fair price to pay considering the 30 million songs that are available.

Globe now offers Spotify to its subscribers, with its GoSURF promo with free Spotify data. Set to run until September, GoSURF with Spotify offers mobile data and a separate data allotment for Spotify, allowing users to stream music without fear of running out of their regular data allotment.

With denominations from P10 to P499, GoSURF with Spotify offers a wide range of data plans to increase usage within the Philippines, with some GoSURF plans bundling the Spotify Premium service with their current data plan.

Last May 14, 2014, Globe held a product launch party for GoSURF with Spotify called #GoSURFSpotify at the Globe Tower in Taguig, hosted by Andi Manzano and Riki Flores of Magic 89.9.
