Bar B Gon going gone?: Thai barbecue restaurant mascot disappears

ASIA-PACIFIC – NOVEMBER 2011: How do you rebuild a brand’s image? Thailand’s number one barbecue restaurant chain chose genocide and gave birth to a surprisingly unconventional villain.

Bar B Q Plaza is killing off all 84 Bar B Gon mascots, one for each branch, in its move to redesign the 20-year-old child-friendly dragon. NudeJEH Bangkok was tasked by Bar B Q Plaza to give the mascot a new look but still keep its originality that made it dear to fans and customers.

Enter Sia Seng, a fictional middle-aged Mafia member, who loves Bar B Q Plaza’s barbecues but has absolutely no tolerance for children. The kidnapping of all Bar B Gon mascots has been “caught” on CCTV and Sia Seng held the green dragons hostage as he demanded that all children be banned from entering any Bar B Q Plaza branch. Should the restaurant management fail to meet his requirements, he will ‘kill’ all the Bar B Gons – which would eventually pave the way for the new mascots redesigned by NudeJEH.

The recent flooding situation in Thailand has turned Sia Seng into a reluctant relief worker, handing out food and water to the victims, but NudeJEH decided to make him recruit “Bar B Gon killers” in keeping with his oddly amusing arrogant image. His CSR misadventures have also been caught in photos and videos, and uploaded together with the clips of his Bar B Gon kidnappings and killings, which have so far engaged close to 40,000 combined Facebook and Twitter fans and followers.

Sia Seng will resume his evil plan of killing all Bar B Gons once the flood situation has resolved. What new Bar B Gon will be born out of the floodwaters? Stay tuned.
