Strong Enough For A Man: Interviews with top female creative directors

GLOBAL – JUNE 15, 2011 – The title is a line straight out of a Secret deodorant campaign, but Strong Enough For A Man is all about women creatives who talk about being in a male-dominated industry. The book is a collaboration between Bilbao-based organization AdWomen and ihaveanidea, the ad industry portal. The project, which was almost a year in the making, tracks 16 inspiring, highly respected and influential female creative directors from around the world and interviews them, to interesting, insightful and unexpected results.

The creatives featured include two from Asia: Natalie Lam, Executive Creative Director at OgilvyOne Shanghai and Masako Okamura, Creative Director at Dentsu Tokyo. Also in the book are Suzana Apelbaum, Executive Creative Director at StrawberryFrog New York; Susan Credle, US Chief Creative Officer at Leo Burnett; Colleen DeCourcy, CEO & Founder at Socialistic; Mary Dean, Founder & Chief Creative Officer at KickSkirt; Ilkay Gurpinar, Executive Creative Director at TBWA\Istanbul; Uschi Henkes, Executive Creative Director & Founder at ZappingM&C Saatchi Madrid; Alessandra Lariu, Founder at SheSays; Linda Locke, CEO & Creative Director at Godmother Consulting;  Pepa Rojo, Chief Creative Director of Digital and New Media Development at Grey Group Madrid; Tiffany Rolfe, Co-Executive Creative Director at CPB Los Angeles; Fernanda Romano, Former Global Creative Director of Digital & Experiential at Euro RSCG; Vivian Rosenthal, Co-Founder at Tronic; Joyce King Thomas, Former Chief Creative Officer at McCann Erickson New York; and Nancy Vonk, Co-Chief Creative Officer at Ogilvy Toronto.

There is room for argument and agreement, for sure, but Strong Enough For A Man is a book whose time has come.
