Roadrunner’s Art of Creative Rock

Friday night was a blast as Roadrunner threw a rock gig like no other!  A dim, stagelit Visual Light Studios transformed into a roadhouse as the ABS-CBN partner company showcased its audio and visual effects heavy artillery to the advertising and production industry.

Roadrunner’s newly relaunched Art of Rock (formerly Audio Post) has a house specialty and that is having local music icons as your go-to guys.  “Roadrunner has guys from the band scene like Francis Reyes from The Dawn, and Diego Mapa from Pedicab and Mayonnaise. They’re very musically inclined, and we see that as their edge. So they give something different to the advertising industry,” says Manette Dayrit, Roadrunner’s youthful managing director.

With the audio a done deal, visuals were up next.  Collaborating with agency creatives,  five of local music industry’s current cream of the crop brainstormed on some concepts for the stage backgrounds, which Roadrunner then rendered through motion graphics.

The result was a fantastic showcase of individuality.  No identical imagery, no monotony.   Not only did the bands have their own signature animation free-flow as their backdrop.  With no clients involved, art directors loved the idea.  And Roadrunner, well, they bagged it!

The party also showcased new services and capabilities like the motion capture camera and the 3D scanner, which turned producer Steve Vesagas from a two-left-footed hobbler to a breakdancing dynamo in record time. Speaking of which, you must have received your DVD of the night’s performances and vignettes by now. That came courtesy of one more service, the Roadrunner Imaging Specialist, which allowed editors to process and edit the digital videos as the party was recorded.
