Starcom Wins Petron Media AOR

Manila – Petron awards media AOR to Starcom Mediavest.  Starcom won over Carat, OMD and Universal McCann.   The media account is worth around US$10million.

"We chose Starcom because of greater efficiencies and practicality of its tools which led to an insightful strategy appropriate for our industry, said Charmaine Canillas, Petron advertising and promotions director.

Ace Saatchi & Saatchi currently handles Petron’s media business, while it shares the oil refining company’s creative account with Leo Burnett and Lowe.  Following the media pitch, there is speculation that Petron may its choice handle the creative business as well.

Petron registered a 31 percent decrease in net profits for its first quarter, despite a rise in sales volume.  The company’s US$15 million is below its 2007 profits of US$22 million during the same period.    Petron is in the Philippines’ top 20 ad spenders.
