“Spread it virally’ – Hip-hop artist Travis McCoy visits for MTV Staying Alive! AIDS awareness campaign

Young people can raise awareness of HIV and AIDS by spreading the message virally, according to Manila weekend visitor Travis McCoy, front man of alternative hip-hop band Gym Class Heroes and the 2009 ambassador of MTV Staying Alive Foundation.

But not to be lost in translation, he explains “Virally, I mean internet. They can go on our website, www.mtv-stayingalive.org. Spreading the word, that’s what we’re trying to pursue.”

Giorgia Arnold, senior vice-president for Social Responsibility of MTV Networks International and executive director of Staying Alive Foundation says, “Travis lives a lot his life online, which is perfect for us so we designed this campaign wherein he can blog and upload videos.”
