University of the Philippines remains top univ in PH based on QS World Rankings

LONDON – The QS World University Rankings on Tuesday released its annual league table of world universities.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) continues to hold the number one spot while Harvard University jumps two spots from top four to top two. Cambridge University and Stanford are tied at the third spot with the UK university dropping one spot while Stanford climbs four spots.

Locally, the University of the Philippines remains to be the top university in the country, placing 120th in the “Employer Reputation Indicator”, a ranking based on a survey of 44,000 international employers and 257th in the “Academic Reputation Indicator”.

Two other Philippines universities got in the global ranking of Employee Reputation Indicator including Ateneo de Manila University at the 259th spot, and De La Salle University at 292nd.

University of Santo Tomas joins the three universities in the global ranking for Academic Reputation Indicator, sharing the same rank with De La Salle at 701+ while Ateneo falls a few spots from 461-470 in 2014 to 501-550 this year.

The QS World University Rankings is the most famous provider of the yearly league table of world universities, and compiled by the QS Intelligence Unit together with an international advisory board of leading academics.
