ADAA 2019: adobo Design Week and adobo Design Awards Asia 2019 mark 10th Year with Official Theme, “Think Design Think”

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — adobo Design Week 2019, and the adobo Design Awards Asia, launches its 10th year with the theme, THINK DESIGN THINK. Design is one of the most powerful forces in our lives and must always be in service to make lives better. good design makes good business. Design builds brand credibility and recognition by creating a consistent visual language, thus providing a connection to brand’s services, offerings, and experience.

As creators, designers, brand owners, and as people who experience design in all its forms—be it visual, tangible, digital, or an experience—let us take this moment to re-evaluate the power of purposeful design and demonstrate the value of design thinking to create human-centric design that advances solutions for business, for life, for culture, and for society.

As the great Steve Jobs once said, “Design is not just what it looks like and feels like. Design is how it works.”

The official logo of “Think Design Think” is a design collaboration between J. Walter Thompson Philippines and Plus63 Design.

In articulating the rationale for the theme’s logo design. J. Walter Thompson Chief Creative Officer Dave Ferrer shared that “all design starts with a compelling thought, and in this case, it came from the thought ‘Think Design Think’ — a theme that was conceived and collaborated on by J. Walter Thompson and Plus63 Design.”

“This theme was inspired from the day-to-day world of designers, where they work every day in the perpetual process of thinking and designing,” explained Ferrer. “The challenge was to capture the essence of this theme on a static application like a poster as well as of course motion graphic applications. So we kept the design solution simple, and we created a typographic solution which expressed movement, perpetuity, discipline and subtle playfulness.”

By keeping the theme (Think Design Think) joined together in one unit and conveying movement on both ends of this unit, the logo visually expresses the process of “Think Design Think”.

The adobo Design Week 2019 will take place from May 6 to 12, seven days packed with creative activities such as a week-long Design Exhibit, Design Masterclasses to be led by some of the most respected creatives in the region, and capped off with a Design Conference and the adobo Design Awards on the last day.
