Behind Gallery Gala 2025: The People Powering A Decade of Imagination

SINGAPORE – 2025 marks a significant milestone for National Gallery Singapore as it celebrates its 10th Anniversary — a decade of making art accessible to all. Among the many activities planned for this landmark year, one highlight stands out: the Gallery Gala. A biennial fixture on Singapore’s philanthropic calendar, the Gala raises vital funds to support the Gallery’s vision of building a thoughtful, creative, and inclusive society through art. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong will grace the evening as Guest of Honour.

This year’s gala, titled “A Decade of Imagination,” takes place on September 13, 2025 at the Gallery. For the first time, guests will dine within the exhibition galleries — a rare opportunity to experience these iconic spaces in an entirely new way. The evening’s program features a world-class dinner curated by some of Singapore’s most celebrated chefs, including Michelin-starred Julien Royer of Odette, “godfather of Singapore Heritage Cuisine” Damian D’Silva, and Peranakan chef and restaurateur Violet Oon, who will be cooking live. Guests will also participate in a Sotheby’s-managed charity auction of rare luxury experiences and 70 exceptional fine artworks, including pieces by Yayoi Kusama, Fernando Zóbel, Liu Kang, and Heman Chong, offering patrons a chance to enrich both their collections and their lives.

This year, the Gallery aims to raise its highest fundraising total in a decade. All proceeds from seats, auction items, and donations will go towards making art accessible to all, from blockbuster exhibitions to festivals to programs for seniors, children, and underserved communities.

Dr. Eugene Tan, Chief Executive Officer and Director of National Gallery Singapore, says, “’A Decade of Imagination’ reflects our belief that the next ten years demand fresh perspectives. We must reinvent how we connect with evolving audiences, while staying true to our mission of making art accessible. The Gala’s proceeds will support our curatorial research, international exhibitions, and community programs. This year, we aim to raise a record sum to sustain our role as Singapore’s leading home for art. It is only through the generosity of our donors, patrons, and supporters that we can continue to champion Southeast Asian art and foster cultural dialogues that enrich lives across our community.”

The People Powering a Decade of Imagination

Behind this extraordinary evening are 11 individuals from the worlds of art, business, philanthropy, and culture, who have worked tirelessly for almost a year — shaping the Gala’s concept and direction, building the auction catalogue, securing sponsors, and driving ticket sales.

As the night approaches, the Gallery Gala Steering Committee shares what the Gallery means to them, their hopes for the future of art in Singapore, and the auction pieces that inspire them most.

Each edition of the Gala is themed and raises vital funds to expand the Gallery’s collection of Singapore and Southeast Asian modern art, enhance accessibility and inclusivity across exhibitions and programmes, and develop impactful community outreach and education initiatives. Guests can expect an exceptional evening of culinary and creative experiences, with the much-anticipated Live Auction as a highlight. In this year’s edition, the Gallery is intending to raise funds in support of its mission to foster a thoughtful, creative, and inclusive society. Every seat purchased and every donation will go directly towards this goal, with both qualifying for a 250% tax deduction.
