Philippine creatives to judge at Spikes Asia

MANILA, AUGUST 21, 2013- The Spikes Asia Festival has announced jurors from the Philippines to judge four-entry categories joining other 78 members for this year’s panel, happening on September 15-17 in Suntec, Singapore.

Andrew Petch will join the juries for film, print, outdoor and radio categories. At this year’s Cannes Festival, Petch 
lead Ace Saatchi & Saatchi to become the most- awarded agency from the Philippines. Prior to his position in Manila, he was the creative head at the Singapore office, and before that, creative director at London. Throughout his career, Petch has under his belt wins from various shows including a Grand Prix at the New York Festivals and Gold medals metals at Cannes, Clio, The British Television Advertising Awards, Campaign Poster UK, Eurobest, Young Guns International Advertising Awards, Ad Fest Asia-Pacific Awards and AWARD Australasian Awards Festival.
 
"Going into Spikes this year Im really looking forward to judging the Film, Print, Outdoor and Radio as it’s such a wide body of channels that you get a better glimpse at the overall creative standard for Australasia over the last 12 months. Ive just done some preliminary judging online and it’s already shaping up to be a strong year," commented Petch.
 
Joining the digital and mobile jury is MRM-Manila deputy executive creative director Budgette Tan. MRM handles the digital campaigns of some of the top brands in the Philippines, such as Coca-Cola, Nescafé, Coffee-Mate, Maggi, Kit Kat, Bank of the Philippines Islands, and  San Miguel Beer. In 2012, the agency was awarded Digital Agency of the Year in the Philippines AOY. Tan was also a finalist in the 2012 Southeast Asia Creative of the Year at Campaign Asia Awards. Aside from advertising,Tan is also known for being a graphic writer. His crime and horror comic book Trese won Best Graphic Literature in the Philippine Book Awards 2012.
 
Craft juror Badong Abesamis, executive creative director of Y&R Philippines, is one of the youngest inductees to the Hall of Fame by the Creative Guild of the Philippines. Prior his post at Y&R , he was at McCann Erickson, Leo Burnnett, Ace Saatchi & Saatchi and TBWA\Santiago Mangada Puno.  He has done work for ABS-CBN Bantay Bata 163, Ayala Land, Bank of the Philippine Islands, Century Canning, Colgate-Palmolive, Cultural Center of the Philippines, Del Monte and more. His work has been celebrated at Cannes, the One Show, Clios, New York Festivals, London International Advertising Awards and Spikes Asia, among others.
 
Eduardo Fuentes, the president and founder of Fuentes Publicity Network  joins the public relations jury. Before Fuentes established the company, he worked from 1978 to 1986 with JWT, moving up from copywriter to creative director for the Unilever division.  He has written and produced a number of award-winning advertising campaigns, including the classic Superwheel ‘Magapatuka’ TV commercial which was popular in the 1970s.He was also vice president for accounts of Campaigns & Grey Advertising and a former Chairperson of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) Philippines and International council member.
