There seems to be a dearth in interesting Christmas ads this season. Many are merely sequels of successful campaigns ( for example, Coca Cola, Marks & Spencers, JC Penney), and one, the driving safety ad from Melbourne, is literally a montage of 20 years worth of TAC ads.
We don’t pretend to understand why that is. Who knows? Perhaps Christmas campaigns were deemed too indulgent in a recession year.
So what’s a creative agency to do? Why, make its own Christmas ad, of course!
In Manila, BBDO Guerrero/Proximity live-streamed its own Christmas carolling. Sweet, although we were disappointed when agency heads David Guerrero and Paul Roebuck didn’t kick up one heel when they sang "Nobodybutchoo!"
