Spark and Colenso launch bold new brand campaign with a quarter of a car

AUCKLAND, NEW ZEALAND – Spark New Zealand, in collaboration with Colenso BBDO, has unveiled a striking new brand campaign that champions its refreshed positioning: “It’s better with Spark.”

The campaign, which debuted September 21 with a two-minute cinema spot, highlights Spark’s role as New Zealand’s leading mobile network provider while emphasizing the feeling of connection and possibility that comes with being on its network.

At the heart of the launch film, directed by Damien Shatford of The Sweetshop, a young woman finds herself propelled into a surreal adventure when her friend’s Spark-enabled phone transforms her ride — literally splitting the passenger section from a car and sending her across the country in only a quarter of the vehicle.

Hannah Bay, Brand Experience Chapter Area Lead at Spark NZ says, “Our new campaign is an ode to discovery – more connection, more possibilities, more of what matters to you with Spark. We hope it brings a sense of joy and wonder to New Zealanders.”

Kimberley Ragan, Colenso Group Creative Director says, “We set out to tell a story that draws people in and gets them curious about our network. And what better way than Spark powering someone’s cross-country journey in a quarter of a car? It’s bold, it’s joyful, and it captures the feeling of being with Spark.”

The campaign launched on September 21 with a two-minute hero spot airing in cinema. It is supported by 90, 60, 30, and 15-second cutdowns, a suite of social assets, and executions across most media channels.
