Events: Overexposed Film Fair Invites You To Meet The Community Keeping Analog Photography Alive and Thriving

MANILA – Calling all shutterbugs! Warehouse Eight co-working and events space is partnering with Kamera Club for its first ever analog film photography fair on March 7 2020, from 11am – 9pm, at Warehouse Eight, Makati. A one-day only event to get in touch with the memory keepers of our past.

An intimate gathering of 24 vendors bringing in analog cameras, film, leather accessories, original film prints and artworks – Overexposed is an open invitation of self-expression and offers a doorway into the post-digital community. It’s a trip down memory lane interlaced with the artistry of the present.

The partnership between Warehouse Eight and Kamera Club had always been organic. “I used to organise curated antique fairs and Kamera Club was one of my vendors, we kept in touch and when I was curious about it, they shipped me my first point and shoot camera- which is what I currently use to this day and has become a tradition to pass around in events at the warehouse!” recounts Kayla Dionisio, co-founder of Warehouse Eight.

A way of giving back and bringing like-minded individuals together, Lillie Mamuyac from Kamera Club shares, “We also want to promote the help that film photography has given us-for us introverts, it’s a perfect way of expressing ourselves.”

Highlights to look out for at Overexposed is Born in Film’s free black & white film developing and visual storytelling workshop. They are a non-profit group of analog lovers whose sole focus is to spread the passion and love for film to all those who want to discover it. Most of the seats will be reserved online through pre-registration, but there will be a few slots up for grabs for the early birds.

An authentic photo-booth experience would be facilitated by a camera enthusiast and collector bringing in his large format camera–The Grapflex RB Series D produced in the 1930’s to take portraits.

The sound hounds amongst you will also appreciate live artists like Sasaya, TALA, Mokka, and Jegs Benedict. There will be food and specialty drinks like Elias Wicked Ales & Spirit craft beer, cocktails from Drunk Barista and a Kombi Brew’s Volkswagen van parked outside serving coffee.

The vision of Overexposed is to create a nurturing space and to peek into the little known world of these humble analog machines. It is the perfect time to explore and be involved in this growing resurgence for nostalgia, and to come home with a starter pack full of new friends, knowledge and gear to start your own adventure with this charming age-old medium.
