Daddy got his bear and more: Laking Aircon 14

MANILA, MAY 8, 2013 – It was a spectacular evening for Alan Navarra as his friends from the advertising industry threw a fundraising party for his dad through the Laking Aircon (LA) event held at URBN Bar and Kitchen at the Fort Strip, BGC on May 7. As in most LA parties, drinks and loud, heart-thrumming music were lavishly supplied.

The promptly termed Laking Aircon is an advertising party held every month by admen for admen, with the sole intent of a casual night out among friends, beer in hand. The term originally came from a common phrase laking Tondo, meaning a person from the slums until they came up with a bright insight. Being the creative that they are, they tweaked the phrase to Laking Aircon as a humorous way to describe the identity of their party.

Now on its 14th run, this is also LA’s first party of the year and consequently, the first fundraising party they ever organized. Usually a soiree where advertising people could let loose and let live, last night was meant to support their friend, Navarra, who’s father suffered a stroke. The fundraising was generated by donations from Navarra’s friends, which can be seen through LA’s Facebook account. Donations include notebooks, Doc Martens and a vintage camera. However, the biggest prize of the night is a pair of Manny Pacquiao’s signed gloves given by Jay Tablante.

This is LA’s biggest party to date and there is certainly more surprises in store for us. We better wait and see!
