Y&R China names Kien Hoe Group Creative Director

ASIA-PACIFIC – SHANGHAI, 24 September 2013 – With over 15 years industry experience in brand building, Kien Hoe has been appointed group creative director of Y&R Shanghai.

The announcement was made Tuesday by Y&R Greater China CEO Charles Sampson and Y&R Greater China chief creative officer Nils Andersson.

Hoe began his career in 1997 at FCB, where he as awarded the Young Creative Award at Malaysian award show Kancils. He joined Saatchi & Saatchi in 2001, where he brought home Malaysia’s first Film Cannes Lion–a bronze for Toyota–as well as Agency of the Year twice.

In 2008, he moved to China as creative director of Saatchi & Saatchi Shanghai. He then joined Ogilvy Shanghai as lead creative on the Dove and Lee Jeans accounts, winning Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards for Dove’s Real Beauty integrated digital campaign in the 2011 China Effies.

Recently, Hoe was part of TBWA\Shanghai, recently winning two Silver Awards for McDonald’s beef "Manly Man" and Adidas Climacool campaigns at the 2012 China Effies. McDonald’s beef "Manly Man" campaign also won a Bronze in the China 4As award show and was voted 2012 Top 10 Best in China Integrated Campaign by Aqua. He also led the first Adidas Original integrated campaign for China.
