Pinoy hip-hop to take form at ‘Rekta Sa Kalye’ Music Festival this November

MANILA, PHILIPPINES — The unwavering support for the local underground music scene, from small gigs to concert grounds, has played a key factor in how OPM has proudly raised up-and-coming artists to the mainstream limelight.

Rekta sa Kalye (RSK), where some of the most prominent OPM artists started off, is returning this year to show support for underground local hip-hop performers on November 18 at the CCP Concert Grounds in Pasay.

Started as a small movement in 2017, Rekta sa Kalye established its humble beginning in the bustling streets of Edsa. Later on, it grew into an established network with a shared interest in underground hip-hop community.

Some of the graduates of RSK are Pinoy hip-hop sensation Al James, Because, Just Hush, and Kiyo. Even Hip-hop forerunner and rap legend Gloc9 has been there from the beginning of Rekta sa Kalye‘s journey too.

Moving to a bigger platform this year, Rekta sa Kalye Music Festival aims to bring together 30,000 attendees to revel in the fusion of Filipino Music – from mainstream, hip-hop, and up-and-coming artists.

“We are hoping that we can always give the people the show they deserve, we want to make sure we stick with our vision to bridge the gap of hip-hop and rock and give the people that diversity and soul behind the movement,” said RSK frontrunners Droppout, Mong Feliciano and Bertsan Balanay.

Known for its artist curation, RSK will bring together 30 artists on one stage including Rico Blanco, Parokya ni Edgar, Mayonnaise, and Sandwich. The event also fronts the performances of December Avenue, Silent Sanctuary, Nobita, Dilaw, Lola Amour, Zild, Franco, Urbandub, Mira, and Dong Abay Music Organization.

Apart from them, Rekta sa Kalye OGs Al James, Loonie, Just Hush, and Because will also bring on the hip-hop fever, along with underground performers Allison Shore, Waiian, 1096 Gang, O$ide Mafia, YB Neet, Tu$ Brother$, and CK YG, Zae, and Madd Mark.

Another bang for the festival is the Hundred Percent x Rekta sa Kalye limited-edition Collaboration Sneakers for VIP ticket holders.
