Isobar launches ‘Create 32 Hackathon’ in Australia

ASIA-PACIFIC – AUSTRALIA, JULY 3, 2013 – Digital marketing agency Visual Jazz Isobar (VJI), with the support of major sponsor Samsung Electronics Australia, will launch Isobar’s Create 32 Hackathon.

This local event is part of a global initiative that follows the success of events held in London, Boston, San Francisco and Warsaw, with Asia’s launch event held in Singapore earlier this year. Create 32 is an initiative by Isobar’s NowLab, the agency’s global innovation accelerator, which is designed to get world-class innovation out into market, faster than previously possible.

The event offers developers from across Australia the opportunity to create their own Near Field Communication (NFC) prototype for cash prizes, as well as the chance to successfully launch their idea in market. VJI’s Create 32 event will run from 9:00am AEST on Saturday, August 17 until 7:00pm AEST on Sunday, August 18.  Twenty teams of tech enthusiasts will descend on York Butter Factory in Melbourne to battle it out in a 32 hour challenge, which will explore creative new uses of NFC technology.

Over the course of the event, participants will work continuously to develop their apps, before pitching them to an esteemed panel of judges made up of sponsors and members of VJI. Mentoring will be available throughout the weekend, as well as unlimited food, drink and entertainment to keep participants energised and awake. The winners of Isobar Create 32 will be announced on Sunday evening and will receive a cash prize and the chance to bring their prototype to life.

Isobar Create 32 gives tech enthusiasts the chance to challenge and define the future of NFC and pioneer new and exciting uses for this technology that allows users to make transactions, exchange digital content and connect electronic devices. Participants will retain the intellectual property of their creations but will have the opportunity to market their apps to the event sponsors.

According to managing director Konrad Spilva, “Innovation has always been at the heart of our industry and it’s exciting to host an event like Isobar Create 32, given its worldwide success, where the country’s brightest young talent will come together to prototype technical innovation.

“The event is also a way of connecting our clients and brands with local, entrepreneurial developers to accelerate knowledge and the understanding of NFC across our industry.”
