DigiCon Philippines top five qualify for DigiCon Regional Awards in Tokyo

PHILIPPINES, OCTOBER 2010 – Five Filipino digital filmmakers will face their counterparts from Hong Kong, China, India, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand at the 12th TBS Digicon Regional Awards in Tokyo, Japan this November.

The top prizewinners were announced at the recently concluded Philippine leg of TBS DigiCon6 Film and Animation Awards. Nelson “Blog” A. Caliguia, Jr. won the Gold Prize for his film Mutya; the Silver Prize went to Emerson Endell Reyes for Ang Ebolusyon ni Kasalanan (Evolution of Sin); and the Bronze Prize was awarded to Julian Carmelo Medenilla Santiago for The Mystery of the 24th. In fourth and fifth place was Emerson Endell Reyes’ Telenobela ni Juan at Luzviminda, and A Day in the Life of Inday by Cutting Edge Productions, Inc.

Due to their impressive outputs, all top five entries qualified to join the regional awards, instead of the original top three.

DigiCon is open to amateur and professional digital content creators working with 3D and 2D computer graphic animations, live-action films shot or edited by digital movie equipment, and all 3D-rendered films, including stop-motion and clay animation.
