ASAP Bares Beyond the Basics

At its 2nd QMM, Rick Hawthorne, Advertising Suppliers Association of the Philippines chairman, formally launched the Association’s 30th anniversary plans.  Reporting that the Association has attained a reputation in the advertising community as a reliable and trusted organization, Hawthorne added that it still had to surpass its achievements. This year, ASAP has lined up a number of activities including the Pearl Anniversary celebration in November.  Through these events, ASAP is giving the members opportunities to work on projects within the Association and for the allied organizations, especially for the anniversary.

Its top-billed annual conference, this year entitled The Next Wind: Beyond the Basics, is from August 28 to 29 at the Intercon.  It is a gathering of industry professionals and experts highlighting key topics on the present advertising landscape, i.e. the emergence of new media, brand equity and valuation, sponsorship marketing, corporate social responsibility, resurgence of radio, advergaming, the new arts: personalized printing, graphic design, art directing photography, the language of a jingle; and events as an experiential marketing tool. The Next Wind: Beyond the Basics is already gaining ground as a hotbed to pick the minds of the current industry hotshots.

In support of industry initiatives, ASAP is engaged to sponsor the first Marcomm Asia in September.  It is also active with the Araw Values awards scheduled at year’s end. This early, the Association is in the thick of planning for the Philippine Advertising Congress 2009 in Baguio.  Already, it is shaping to be an extraordinary year for ASAP.

To enjoin its members in the events, the Association is beefing up on the ASAP USAP, its quarterly newsletter that reports on the industry, as well as activities and achievements of members.  An ASAP Primer, an eagerly-awaited publication borne of the collaboration amongst the pioneers of the Association, will be released to coincide with the conference.

Going digital, ASAP members had a sneak preview of what promises to be an exciting, re-designed website during the 2nd QMM.  Even the Events Management sector recently ratified its Code of Ethics.  Similar activities from the other ASAP sectors are in the brewing stage.

2008 looks to be ASAP’s Pearl surfacing towards perfection.
